ClockShark Alternative: GPS Check-In Without a 3-Year Contract

ClockShark is a capable field time tracking app, but its pricing page lists a three-year contract on every plan. Here's what that means and how CrewVerify compares.

ClockShark is a capable app built for field crews: GPS time tracking, job costing, scheduling, invoicing and QuickBooks integration. Plenty of contractors are happy with it. But one line on its pricing page is worth reading closely before you sign.

The contract term

ClockShark's pricing page states that a contract term of three years applies to all pricing plans. That's not unusual for software sold to larger companies, but for a small contractor whose crew size swings with the season or the economy, three years is a long commitment.

ClockShark does bill only for active users, which helps when your crew shrinks. But the commitment itself stays.

What ClockShark costs

As listed by ClockShark in November 2026:

  • Standard: $40/month base fee plus $9 per active user per month.
  • Pro: $60/month base fee plus $11 per active user per month. Adds PTO, advanced job costing, compliance forms and more.
  • 14-day free trial with Pro features.

10 workers$130/mo$170/mo$69/mo (Starter) or $109/mo (Pro)
25 workers$265/mo$335/mo$199/mo (Pro)

Over a three-year term, a 25-person crew on ClockShark Standard comes to about $9,500 if the crew size stays the same.

Where CrewVerify is different

  • No contract. Month to month, cancel anytime.
  • No app to install. Workers check in from a text link with a one-time code.
  • Compliance at the gate. Certification tracking can warn, or block check-in, when a required card is missing or expired.
  • OSHA 301 auto-fill from verified check-in data.

Where ClockShark is the better fit

If you want scheduling, invoicing, quotes and deep job costing in one app, and you're comfortable with a multi-year commitment, ClockShark covers more ground. CrewVerify focuses on verified presence and compliance, and exports a CSV for payroll.

Before you sign anything

Whatever you choose, ask every vendor: How long is the contract? What happens if we downsize or close a division? Can we export all our data if we leave?
